Costs and proceedings
The process begins with the presentation of the aforementioned requisites before the State Department Office, where the NGO’s plans and objectives are revised and evaluated. If they comply with current legal guidelines, the proposal is then approved by the government. The next step is to register the NGO’s statues and the government resolution of its creation in Panama’s public registry, and before the country’s revenues office so that it can legally accept donations.
Including legal costs and fees, the total cost to create an NGO in Panama is US$3,500.
Once the proper documentation is presented before the State Department Office, a 4 to 8 month approval period is expected. The public registry registration might take between one and two weeks.
